* Name Origin: Nortongue (Old Norse-inspired), likely derived from þǫll (pine) and varn (ward/guardian) — "guardian of the groves."
* Industry: Timber, textiles, and paper production. Own vast swaths of tree plantations across the islands.
* History: Claim descent from the pirate-king Harr Thalvarn, whose fleet was famed for its longships and independence. The family turned from piracy to industry early, dominating the papermaking and textile trades through forest control.
* Dark Age Sins: Engaged in ecological slavery—forcing villages to live on clear-cut quotas under brutal overseers. Entire islands were stripped of vegetation and life.
* Change in Ledger: Their leader Elenna Thalvarn made a secret pact with The Turned Palm to betray her own father. This spared the house, but left it with internal divisions. Elenna rules now, but many elders consider her a traitor.
* Present Persona: Market themselves as stewards of “renewable bounty.” Host annual tree-planting festivals to distract from historical deforestation.
