Overview
Subterranean Pelithos - Kyterian Depths - Erebus - Taphos - cavern labyrinth vault - opagos rifts? - aphxanamos rootwarren? - rivers from the strange sea - kobaloi/Jewel mines? - other singular shafts/digs
- vast cavern world, the strange sea laps at it; the vathys emerge from the sea to traffic with the dead - certain ultradeep caverns reach between the surface and the underworld; many of these are known to the daktyloi - five rivers, flow down to the sea, each with Strange magical properties - the underworld is rife with Strange, dreamscapes blow about; dreamers can commune with the dead; the roots of the White Tree reach the underworld and the dreamer's ravens can travel here - souls dwell here until they are ready to move on to a new birth - souls can act, but the underworld naturally drains them of passion and motive; charon is the currency of the underworld which they use to reconnect themselves to their old selves (literally, within the Apparatus) to feel and act, and they can extract it from the blood of the living; they can also receive it through offerings made by their descendents - the society of the dead deals in charon, some can be harvested within the underworld, but it is scarce; it is full of ritual and inscrutable actions and tasks and experiences (some pleasant, others terrible) that guide the souls towards a new life (only the Oboloi can hint at how it all works). - the Net leads souls to and from the underworld
The Five Rivers of the Underworld - the river of fire, green liquid flame - the impassable river, it cannot be crossed, save by the boat of the Oboloi
