Overview

Eir (Old Nor \ˈɛir\) was named for her association with the dawn. Lore about Eir is uncommon, as little is known about the origins of the Shard Gods. But a few creatures that knew her will still exist, such as Servitors, Exarchs, and other Gods.

History

Eir's origin lies in the cosmic rupture of The Shattering. Like all Shard Gods, she came into being as a fragmented echo of the true, perfect Gilded Age Integrum. She awoke atop the Dawnspire, a mountain in early Acrolon where the first light of the Shard Sun touched the land. She walked among mortals not as a conqueror, but as a bringer of civilization, a light in the dark, and a champion of truth.

When The First Godswar erupted, Eir was among the last to fall. She stood upon the broken Sun itself during the final battle with badly wounded Fenrir. With her dying breath, she dealt the fatal blow to Fenrir. Her death left a permanent corona of light around Acrolon's Sun. She died knowing that Isaac, her Exarch, had survived and that Daylight, though dimmed, would rise again. Her Divine Focus was recovered by the Founders and bestowed upon Isaac, now Lucidus, initiating a new age of Day in Acrolon.

Description

In stories and iconography, Eir appears as a tall, golden-skinned woman clad in garments that shimmer like sunlight on water. Her robes are long and fluid, seeming to trail a river of light. She is crowned a radiant disk of light, behind her head, like a solar halo that casts no shadow.

Her face is stern but gentle, her expression often one of mournful clarity, as if she carries the weight of having once known perfection but having forgotten it. Her eyes burn like the first sunrise, and her arms are often outstretched in welcome, as though to embrace all living things. She carries a runed scroll in one hand and a mirrored shield in the other.

• Thaldris, the Morning Vow. Elevated by Eir, survived The First Godswar to serve Lucidus, died in The Second Godswar.
• Brandrorn, the Lightkeeper. Elevated by Eir, killed in The First Godswar.
• Liora, the Daydreamer. Elevated by Eir, retired after the death of Eir.
