Kopakita is entirely flat plains, most of which is fertile ground. There is a small patch of dense forest in the center of the island. In the southeast of the island is a small desert with a petrified forest called The Scornwake.
Langtide is one of the largest Isles of Splendor, spanning almost 200 miles from north to south. Most of the island is grassy plains. The northern tip of the island is a small marsh. The western coast has a small patch of jungle. In the center of the island is a stretch of forested hills with spring-fed rivers. The southern tip of the island is clay shrubland.

Kopakita has extensive farmland. There is enough fishing and agriculture to feed the local population, and plenty of surplus agriculture to export, mainly to The Spike and Skeldheim. Kopakita is low in building stone, and so has lots of wooden structures and imports granite from Keshlene.
Langtide has one of the most robust diversity of natural resources. It has enough fish, building stone, lumber, textiles, and agriculture to serve its large population. It also exports a surplus of agriculture, lumber, textiles, and building stone. From its jungle, it exports dyes and medicines. It also has significant exports and local markets of art from local artists.

The Scornwake
Called Thatre e Tharjes in Darktongue, this desert with a petrified forest has mysterious origins. It is a swath of crumbling sandstone and hard-cracked earth where bleached, petrfified trees claw toward the sky. The forest abruptly halts at its edges, where the broken earth has its biggest rifts. Common myths include:

* The Scultpor's Folly: A Sovereign of Form known as The Sculptor went mad during the Dark Age and tried to "perfect" the forest found on this part of the island. The result was the petrified forest, which Aedifica bound the Servitor to as punishment.
* The Burning Bride: A woman who made a pact with The Ruby Queen had a wedding in this forest, and when left at the altar, this disaster was the result of her scorn. This myth is one of the origins of the name.
* Swarming Shell: Sailor's claim the desert crust is the shed shell of strange crab-like god (Soma) and that swarms of crab-like creatures lie in slumber beneath the surface.
* Pools of Venom: Some claim that the desert is dotted with Fury pools of poisonous liquid and that this Fury has damaged the land.
* Lover's Scorn: A hedonistic cult of Lascivia once settled in this forest, but displeased their God. She sent Demons to punish them, and the desert was the result. This myth is another origin of the name.

Overview

Langtide (Nortongue \ˈlæŋɡtaɪd\) is named for its elongated shape. Lore about Langtide is thorough and accurate. It is highly civilized, well mapped, and studied by scholars and historians.

History

Langtide is one of only two islands in Mercatia to never have been renamed. For much of the Shattered Age, Langtide was the most populous and wealthiest of islands in Mercatia, home to three pirate companies, each allied for decades through family ties. It wasn't until the rise of Suentius in the late Shattered Age that Goldreach outpaced Langtide in population, wealth, and power.

The southernmost village is famous for a Herald of Form ritual site which is used to ward off The Strange Tide from Acrolon.
