Overview

Commontongue (Commontongue), also Enchridian (Elftongue \ɪnˈkaɪˌrɪdiən\ for in the hand), also known as Tradespeak (Commontongue), is named for its supernatural ubiquity. It inspired by real world English and is the language that this Wiki is written in. For localizations of this setting, Commontongue is the language that should be translated into the local language.

History

Commontongue was created by Suentius with help from other Gods of Pattern during the Dark Age as a way to facilitate collaboration between the survivors of The Fall.

Cosmology

Commontongue is a borderline magical language of The Integrum, in that every Mortal of The Integrum is born with an understanding of the language. It was created this way by the Gods of Pattern. While universal, it is a very generalized language, suitable for common concepts, but not as eloquent in any specific cultural context as the native language of that culture.
