Overview
Cambion (Imperial \ˈkæmbiɪn\ meaning change maker) was named for his radical philosophies of change and progress. Lore about Cambion is rare and incomplete, as very few know his true identity as The Astral Dragon.
History
The myth of Cambion began as a mortal child that knew every language. By adulthood, he became a scholar that wrote a treatise unifying elements of languages across the Shards. His achievements impressed even the Exarchs of Wodhain. It was the Exarchs of Pattern that recommended Cambion take Wodhain's place. In reality, Cambion's achievements were all carefully planned and planted by his true identity as The Astral Dragon, as part of Xevanezral's Gambit.
One of Cambion's most noteworthy achievements as God of Pattern was The Binding of Babel. The Codex Spiral created by Wodhain was largely confusing in its architecture, a reflection of the disparate minds of Mortals. However, Cambion was able to create the earliest maps of the Codex Spiral, including marking key milestones that made traversing the library-city somewhat feasible. While seen as an achievement in increasing understanding of Pattern, it was actually a step in The Astral Dragon's plans to increase the influence it had over Mortal thought.
Near the end of The Shattered Age, The Astral Dragon shed its disguise as Cambion to reveal its true nature, just before The Fall. The fruition of its millennia of plans culminated in the destruction of the Founders which led to The Fall. The Astral Dragon sacrificed itself in the destruction of the Founders, leaving the Divine Focus of Pattern to Suentius.

Description
In Cambion's peaceful form, called The Divine Librarian, he appeared as a tall man wearing shimmering sheets of parchment stitched into robes. His eyes were luminous glyphs that changed to reflect the languages he heard. His hair was silver-white, hanging in numerous braids. His skin was dark brown. He did not hold a weapon, but he had a staff topped with a prism, surrounded by symbols rotating in mid air.
Cambion's war form was known as The Rune Lord. It appeared as a man in runed plate armor. His staff becomes a glaive, with a barbed, glowing rune in place of a blade.
Personality
Cambion was patient, mild, and unnervingly composed. He never raised his voice, and when he spoke it felt as though you'd already heard his words before. He played the role of a quiet counselor in the pantheon of Gods of Acrolon. Mortals described him as fatherly and benevolent.. Of course this personality was merely part of the false character The Astral Dragon was portraying.
Abilities
Even as a false God of Pattern, Cambion was incredibly powerful: strong, agile, and tough. He also could expertly mimic control over language, thought, and memory. In reality, however, he was not a God of Pattern. He fabricated these abilities through his own magic as The Astral Dragon. His secret identity possessed many abilities beyond those displayed by Cambion.
