• Industry: Art, fashion, magical baubles, cultural export.
• History: The only primarily elven Great House, they were originally artisans and performers. When Suentius began legitimizing the pirate isles, he gave them noble status to secure elven investment and artistry to polish Mercatia’s image.
• Dark Age Sins: Practiced economic cultural sterilization. Entire colonies were aesthetically rebranded to fit Mercatia’s “marketable identity.” Native traditions were buried under imported elven elegance. Also known for brutal enforcement of copyright and stylistic IP.
• Change in Ledger: A major exodus of traditionalists occurred, but the house itself survived. Now run by Sylae Calvinar, a modernizer with a public-facing agenda of “aesthetic harmony through cooperation.”
• Present Persona: Present themselves as taste-makers and curators of elegance. In truth, they still dominate cultural production through monopoly and aesthetic coercion.
