Overview

The Great Barrier (Commontongue) is named for being the outer boundary of the universe. Lore about The Great Barrier is rare and incomplete. Most of the information about it is speculative.

History

The Great Barrier was constructed by the Founders during the First Age as part of the Integration. It has remained part of the Integrum ever since. There were two notable incidents involving the Great Barrier in this time.

During The Shattering part of the Great Barrier was shattered, lending to the name of the cataclysm and its subsequent age. This shattered portion of the Great Barrier was formed by the destroyed body of Aeon, creating the Abyss. At the end of the Dark Age, the Abyss was sealed, and the Great Barrier made whole again.

Cosmology

Unlike most of The Apparatus, the function of the Great Barrier is not well understood. It's spherical shape acts as a wall between the Integrum on the interior and the Void beyond.

Geography

The Great Barrier is constructed primarily of truemetal, founderstone, astral crystal. The interior surface is the location of the barrier realms.

Inhabitants

The Great Barrier itself is uninhabited, though the barrier realms have inhabitants.
