Cabals
- Threefold Coven
- a shattered age cabal that pursued the study of "strange alchemy", the harvesting and mixture of substances from the Strange Sea, it's flora and fauna, etc, as well as letting integral things "steep" in Strange environments to transform them in as controllable a manner as possible.
- the cabal became increasingly corrupt, beginning to feed upon the flesh of strange beasts to empower and alter themselves. Their madness grew, and their feasts eventually became cannibalistic, eating people to claim their dreams or feed the Strange hungers they had cultivated.
- They migrated into the Strange Sea promptly, becoming the Court of Three.
- House of Rush-Lights
- ruinous muse?
- a bleak court? bleeding court (suffering)? laughing court (mean girls, peer pressure)? court of repose (opium den)?
- Leaves of the White Tree
- Some of the earliest orisons, the cult of the White Tree.
- The Unyielding Seven
- the seven vassals of Queen Hekuba, the Wreath and ruler of the Southern Isles. She inspired such frenzied loyalty and determination to stand against the depredations of the Saltbound in the newly formed Maelstrom, following the First Titanomachia, that they refused death when they fell, becoming Strange Ghosts and continuing their crusade.
- neogi oasis princes
- tactile obsession
- slavers; use addiction, pain and subsequent fear of pain, pleasure, and "tactile greed" (the grasping of cold coins) to enslave and control
- the neogi were called to the world by a Soma-orison, a craftsman who wove silk so sublime it haunted the dreams of recipients. this eventually drew forth the neogi, who in time drew forth Soma, whose ravaged the pre-Golden Waste forsts of western Dytikos.
- occupant Paraphernalia-holder
- ruled a domain (kingdom, secret society ???) in shattered age Calcaria
- the bearer had several items of Paraphernalia, allowing him a great deal of combinatorial power
- may have begun as a scholar and explorer of the Strange who stumbled into Paraphernalia and sought more
- his agents ranged far, chasing rumors of more items
- how did he come to an end? migrate into the Strange in the Fall? messed around with too much power and some expression of it was his undoing? overthrown by other powers?
