Summary

The purpose of this game was to quickly build historical context for the end of the Dark Age and the replacement of the government in Acrolon.

This game was played in the Microscope system using Acrolon as the known setting. This was an early experiment for using Microscope to create history in an established game world, and was moderately successful. It demonstrated the need to limit world building with this system (because lots of narrative time can be wasted elaborating metaphysical questions) and narrative structuring (don't try to build tension with mysteries that will be resolved later with climactic revelations). The history created was as follows:

  • Start: The Abyss is Closed
  • Halfling Migration
    • Destruction of a Heart Tree, causing the halflings to migrate
    • Heart tree is a powerful forest spirit
  • Changeling Holocaust
    • Changelings, which are bestial men cursed with ancient mingling of demon blood warred with each other
    • Treaty of the Moon Children, when Lily converted some changelings, calling themselves Moon Children
  • Founding of the Order of the Sun
    • Arch-druid of a small, powerful druid order is murdered by the demon Urmalick
    • Red Guard defeat Urmalick trapping him in the Dawn Star (gem)
    • White Queen gains support of the surviving druids, becoming the Order of the Sun
  • Hunting of the Remnants of the Second Empire
    • Allies of the White Queen meet at the Eastern Castle to route the Second Empire
    • Red Guard infiltrate the palace of the Second Empire and kill the Emperor
  • Last Enemy of the Queen is Defeated

Canon

While these events have not been canonized, they are ripe for picking details when building Acrolon history.
