Overview

Oscillia (Imperial \ˌɑsˈɪliə\, Nortongue Langhaugr meaning long hills, Imperial Milcolles meaning thousand hills) was given its current name at the end of the Shattered Age for its numerous battlefields strewn with dead bodies, as a result of Sindra's March. Lore about Oscillia is common, complete, and accurate. It has been studied by countless historians and scholars.

History

In the early Dark Age, Oscillia was a war-torn land. Survivors of Sindra's March had fled into the hills and caves. Fueled by The Long Night, they became bandits and raiders, surviving through brutal self-interest instead of collaboration. Later in the Dark Age, Lascivian missionaries from Agria created "humanitarian" settlements to help refugees in Oscillia. Of course, Lascivian compassion being what it was, these dysfunctional settlements became cesspools of psychological torture and misery.

In the Dawn Age, Oscillia was part of The Reckoning. Between IR 30 and IR 145, settlers from Agria and Mercatia

Cosmology

Oscillia is a fairly cosmologically typical for a region of a shard realm.

Geography

Oscillia is roughly 800 miles east to west and 500 miles north to south.

It is comprised of the following regions:

  • Bleakridge: A tall hilly region in the east, leading down to the Viridian peninsula.
  • Brackenreach: Region around a massive lake in the west, choked with reedy plants.
  • Crimson Hills: A region of scrubland with red dirt and clay in the north.
  • Hollowmere: An isolated marsh in the northwest of the region.
  • Thornholt: A region in the south full of briars and dense, thorny forests.

Inhabitants

Primarily Humans from Mercatia, who settle the southern central and eastern coasts, as well as from Agria, who settle the the rivers up through Brackenreach to Stonewall. While Humans are the most populace species, many of the Mercatian settlements are quite cosmopolitan, as Mercatia itself.
