Zanathax, Oracle of Dust

Overview

Zanathax (Elftongue \ˈzænəˌθæks\ for ruin), also known as The Oracle of Dust, is named for its association with divination and death. Like all Eldritch Gods, lore about Zanathax is exceptionally rare and incomplete. The lore comes primarily from scholars who have studied the Obyrith and Eldritch Orisons. It is the God of Beholders.

History

Zanathax, like all Eldritch Gods, is considered to be among the oldest Strange Gods. Zanathax appeared in the universe during The Shattering.

One of the most notable appearances of Zanathax in history was as the patron of one of the Heroes of the Dawn, specifically the Orison who would become the Lost God known as The Torn Man.

Description

Zanathax appears as a mass of lidless eyes suspended in a thick, viscous liquid.

Personality

Zanathax, like all Eldritch Gods, cannot be said to have a coherent personality. Its only discernable motivation seems to be an obsession with observation and the future.

Orisons

Like all Eldritch Gods, it is not clear what draws Zanathax's attention to a Mortal to create an Orison, however all of Zanathax's Orisons sacrifice one of their eyes to the Eldritch God, and receive one of its eyes in exchange.
