The Court of Four was one of the Ancient Courts of Arcadia, formed in the early Shattered Age. It was founded by the Fey Gods, The Keening Women, c. NIR 200. After The War of Erasure, it became known as The Court of Three.

The Court was an exploration of the Strange Essence of Quantity. It was founded on a philosophy of numerological beliefs. The Keening Women believed that meaning is found in the understanding the numeric patterns of the universe. The Court was populated by the Hags.

After The War of Erasure caused the separation of Bright and Bleak philosophical inflections, The Court of Four was altered when its founding member left the coven to create The Eleventh Court. The Court of Four was renamed The Court of Three, and they became concerned more specifically with numerological cardinality - how many things there are is the the most important aspect of meaning. Since The Court of Three has the same general philosophy, the same Fey God, and the same Fey species - it is generally considered the same Court, merely a Midnight Court implementation.

The Keening Women irrationally deny that The First Queen was ever part of their Court, or that their Court was ever known as The Court of Four. Arguing the point is an excellent way to earn their enmity.
