Overview

The Rot That Remembers (Commonspeak), also Ygorl (Norspeak \ɪɡˈɔrəl\ for world eater) and Ulgra’oth (Farspeak [1] for no known translation), is an Eldritch God associated with the Strange Realm of The Horizon known as The Fever Marsh, and is recognized as the patron and origin of the Bogkin.

Integral scholarship classifies the Rot That Remembers as a godlike phenomenon rather than a true god. Its influence manifests through corruption of olfactory perception and memory, progressively severing the connection between experience and identity.

Ygorl (Nortongue \ɪɡˈɔrəl\ for world eater), also known as The Ruinous Muse, is named for its deathly appearance and association with emotional corruption. Like all Eldritch Gods, lore about Ygorl is exceptionally rare and incomplete. The lore comes primarily from scholars who have studied the Obyrith and Eldritch Orisons. It is the God of the Slaad.

History

Ygorl, like all Eldritch Gods, is considered to be among the oldest Strange Gods. Ygorl appeared in the universe during The Shattering.

Description

Ygorl appears as a towering, pale, emaciated frog-like humanoid. Its wide head has a gaping, toothless mouth. Its eyes are deep sockets that glow yellow from deep within. Its arms are too long, and its fingers long and bony.

Personality

Ygorl, like all Eldritch Gods, cannot be said to have a coherent personality. Its only discernable motivation seems to be an obsession with scent and memory.

Orisons

Like all Eldritch Gods, it is not clear what draws Ygorl's attention to a Mortal to create an Orison.
