Overview
The Contest Eternal (Commontongue), also Ulukaru (Furytongue \uˈluˌkuru\ for ultimate battle), or more briefly the Contest, was named for being conflict for supremacy among the Titans during the Lost Age. Lore about the Contest Eternal is rare and incomplete. It comes through Primals and Immortals, but even their understanding is incomplete and highly biased.
Timeline
Causes
Even the Titans are not confident in their understanding of where the Contest originally came from. The Contest was something from deep in their own history, lost to myth and legend. Beliefs about the origins of the Contest are as varied as the Titans themselves. Regardless of the cause, Titans are compelled to participate.
Major Events
All of the major events of the Contest involved a process called Consolidation. Consolidation events transformed the universe in numerous and profound ways, creating and destroying entire realms, shifting power among the Titans, and altering the course of the Contest.
These conflicts between Titans only rarely involved violence by the Titan's themselves. More commonly, violent conflicts involved wars between Primals in service to the Titans. However, the most common form of contest, was a symbolic proxy struggle involving Immortals and Dragons.
Campaign Events
- Lost Tales of Cutter: An Immortal of the Starling Grove adventured in the Lost Age.
- Lost Tales of Pendulum: An Immortal of the Starling Grove, and the oldest known immortal, adventured in the Lost Age.
Consequences
It is understood that the Contest will continue until a single Titan emerges victorious. The goal of the Contest Eternal is for a Titan to rise as the single consciousness, the single will dominant over the entire universe through Consolidation. However, the natural course of the Contest was interrupted by the Foundation War.
