Overview
Kopakita (Dawntongue \ˌkoʊˈpækɪtɑ\) is named for its small forest. Lore about Rothlene is thorough and accurate. It is highly civilized, well mapped, and studied by scholars and historians. It's biggest mystery is The Stillwake desert.
History
In the late Shattered Age, this island was known as Gemellia (Imperial \gɛˈmɛliə\ for little gem). The ancient petrified forest known as The Stillwake in Enchiridian was once called Uscavia in Dawntongue (\uˈskæviə\ for dry) was once called Thatra e Therjes in Darktongue (\ˈθɔtrʌ ɛ ˈθɛrjɛs\ for land of withering).
Populations
Kopakita has a population of 48750, across 1 large city and 2 villages. High quality roads connect all of the settlements.
Geography
Kopakita is entirely flat plains, most of which is fertile ground. There is a small patch of dense forest in the center of the island. In the southeast of the island is a small desert with a petrified forest called The Stillwake.
Economy
Kopakita has extensive farmland. There is enough fishing and agriculture to feed the local population, and plenty of surplus agriculture to export, mainly to The Spike and Skeldheim. Kopakita is low in building stone, and so has lots of wooden structures and imports granite from Keshlene.
Features
The Stillwake
Called Thatre e Tharjes in Darktongue, this desert with a petrified forest has mysterious origins. It is a swath of crumbling sandstone and hard-cracked earth where bleached, petrfified trees claw toward the sky. The forest abruptly halts at its edges, where the broken earth has its biggest rifts. Common myths include:
- The Scultpor's Folly: A Sovereign of Form known as The Sculptor went mad during the Dark Age and tried to "perfect" the forest found on this part of the island. The result was the petrified forest, which Aedifica bound the Servitor to as punishment.
- The Burning Bride: A woman who made a pact with The Ruby Queen had a wedding in this forest, and when left at the altar, this disaster was the result of her scorn.
- Swarming Shell: Sailor's claim the desert crust is the shed shell of strange crab-like god (Soma) and that swarms of crab-like creatures lie in slumber beneath the surface.
- Pools of Venom: Some claim that the desert is dotted with Fury pools of poisonous liquid and that this Fury has damaged the land.
